There's been a recent flurry of articles about the renewed quest to build the tallest building in the world. In today's Chicago Sun-Times, it was reported that the way had been cleared in zoning laws to allow a new building designed by Santiago Calatrava to potentially become the world's tallest. Another recent on-line article made mention of the height craze and also to the ultimate design for skyscrapers, Frank Lloyd Wright's Mile High Illinois building. Wright designed it in 1956 and said the technology at the time couldn't build it, but in the future it would be possible to create this architectural wonder. Who knows, with enough interest (and money) we might yet see the day when the Mile High Illinois will be built.

Unfortunately, I don't think the FAA would go for it.
