I took a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's former summer estate Taliesin in Spring Green, WI last week. It was a fantastic day and perfect for photos. During the tour, the docent mentioned that all the gorgeous farmland on the estate was being used for organic farming by co-op farmers. I was quite impressed and thought you all would be interested getting the lowdown.
I wasn't able to find out much, but some digging online turned up a little info. I first found this Tidbit on Madison Magazine's website. The tidbit mentioned that there was an effort to start a School of Organic Farming and Cooking at the Taliesin school, but I don't think the idea was ever fully launched. Digging a bit deeper, I uncovered this article from the Wisconsin State Journal that dates back to July 1999. It discusses details about plans for the School of Organic Farming and Cooking. Additionally, one of the names associated with the plans for the school was Harmony Valley Farm. Perhaps these are the farmers that work the Taliesin land?
If anyone has any additional details that will offer further insight, please drop us a line.

Contact an apprentice named Ryan Hewson at Taliesin. He has been working on organic farming to raise produce for Taliesin East. You may find him in other articles on this site.
