We know it seems like PrairieMod suddenly turned into realtor.com, but there's just been a lot of interesting and important Prairie School homes that have started coming on the market. It gives us a chance to talk about some of the amazing architects responsible for them.
We recently were alerted to the Gordon Abbott House in Hinsdale, Illinois being placed on the market. Designed by William E. Drummond in 1912, it is considered by many to be one of his finest residential commissions. Drummond worked for such famous architectural figures as Louis Sullivan, Daniel Burnham and Frank Lloyd Wright before starting his own private practice. His buildings always stand out as quintessentially "Prairie School" whenever you see them. Whomever is lucky enough to move into the Abbott house will surely enjoy it for years to come!

I stumbled across this on Craigslist today and about fell out of my chair. This ranks very high on my list of PS houses that are still private residences. Oh, if only to have a cool $1.2M. I cannot believe this house is for sale.
I actually drove by it a few years ago, and was just stunned by the house. It truly is gorgeous.

Tooling around the web today, I was completely SHOCKED to see that this house is for sale (again?) right now, for WELL under the previous asking price of up to $1.3 million.
