Flickr is one of the most innovative and important on line communities that has come out of the Internet revolution. It allows people from all over the world to share photos of their lives and of what they are passionate about in an organized and accessible manner. We love it, because it enables us to see pictures of great architecture we rarely get to see.
Case in point: Eric Saed's recent uploaded image album of the late Taliesin Fellow, John (Jack) Howe's work. John Howe was Frank Lloyd Wright's chief draftsman from 1935 until Wright's death in 1959. As stated on the absolute arts website:
One of the first members of Wright’s Taliesin Fellowship, which was begun in 1932, Howe was schooled in the principles of organic architecture. In Wright’s studio, he directed the activities of the drafting room and completed many of Wright’s presentation drawings. Howe moved to Minnesota in the mid-1960s, where he ran his own architectural practice that focused, like Wright’s, on domestic architecture.
Check out the Flickr images of Howe's work and see how the ideas and
principles espoused by Wright were absorbed and expressed by one of his
greatest pupils. Organic Architecture is a living, breathing ideal that
we should take the time to explore and find ways to incorporate into
our lives today. We encourage others to take Eric Saed's lead and share
images of what inspires them so we can all learn and enjoy!
