A few weeks ago, I happened upon a special little shop that bills itself as "Chicagoland's best resource for Vintage 20th Century Modern Design." It took a bit of detective work to find the little gallery shop called Arte Moderne, located in a lower level area of shops off of Main Street in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Upon entering the gallery, I was immediately met with a wondrous sight of Eames chairs, Art Deco silver and various Mid-Century Modern ceramics. I was like a kid in a candy store!
So what caught my eye? Well, I walked away with a 50's silver-plated atomic bud vase and an early Haeger pottery "Penguin" pitcher (great thin spout for watering house plants). Each one is beautiful, useful and will be a perfect addition to the PrairieMod decor in my house.
If you're in the area and on the look-out for some great Mid-Century Modern decor, I highly suggest you check out Arte Moderne for that perfect piece! They unfortunately don't have a website, but their hours are:
Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday: 12:00-5:00pm
The phone number is 630-790-3036 and their email is arte-moderne@comcast.net
Tell 'em PrairieMod sent you!
