If you're having one of those days at work, then we have the perfect de-stressing item for you--colorful, wooden, beautifully designed blocks! House Industries, the type design gurus, just released a new product that will have you clamoring for recess--Alexander Girard inspired alphabet blocks. The set contains 28 alphablocks in a wooden tray that has a cool, colorful image of the House Industries logo printed in a puzzle format on one side and lots of Girard inspired suns and House type faces on the other block faces. It's a perfect precursor product for what we're assuming will be a super sweet font set based on the art and type of a Mid Century Modern Master. For those of you unfamiliar, Girard was a top American textile designer, known for bright, geometric patterns. He designed fabrics that Herman Miller used on furniture designed by Charles and Ray Eames.
Check out the blocks and we'll be sure to keep you posted on when a Girard font will materialize from the House Industries folks. Until then, we've got some serious playing to do!
