We just learned that a fire broke out last night in the kitchen of Cucina Paradiso, the restaurant located next to the John Toomey Gallery. As stated on Cucina's website:
"Cucina Paradiso’s entire kitchen was destroyed and much of our dining room suffered water and smoke damage. We are obviously devastated and saddened that this has happened but are extremely grateful to the Oak Park and Forest Park firefighters for their quick response to the scene and for risking their own safety to put out the fire. We are most thankful that no one was injured in that process."
As our readers know, the Toomey Gallery is an icon in the Arts & Crafts/Modernism auction world and would be a great loss if the gallery or its contents were significantly damaged. This is still a breaking story, so we will report more as details surface.
