Our good friend Mark Hertzberg, author of the weblog Wright in Racine, has just posted a new article in which he interviews Chicago preservation architecture legend and Prairie Avenue Bookshop co-owner, Wilbert Hasbrouck. As Mark points out in his email to us:
"He is also the author of "The Chicago Architectural Club - Prelude to the Modern," a 600-page history of Chicago's architects, as well as her architecture. The article also touches on controversies about his career. We chatted, at one point, about 'discoveries' of 'new' Wright buildings, which led me, somewhat reluctantly, to bring up the Mitchell House question again. That is at the end of the Hasbrouck profile, with one of Corwin's drawings."
The article is a fascinating read and opens a lot of questions in regards to architectural preservation and the controversy surrounding Wright attribution of certain buildings. Once again, Mark does an excellent job of providing readers a in-depth look at important figures who orbit the world of Wright. Check out the article here and enjoy!
