Here's an article that proves that not all fraternities and fratboys are only interested in keggers and wet t-shirt contests.
The Sigma Phi fraternity at the University of Madison in Wisconsin are the proud stewards of the Louis Sullivan designed Harold C. Bradley House. The article describes the way in which the fraternity has made it their honor and duty to preserve and protect their architectural gem of a house. In the article, Jim Draeger of the Wisconsin Historical Society says it best about the significance of the house and the work the fraternity brothers undertake to keep it in tip-top shape:
"I think the measure of significance of the Bradley House is that the
Bradley House is listed as a National Historic Landmark which is
reserved for property among the most important in the nation, " said
Draeger. "It puts it on the same plane as some of the works of Frank
Lloyd Wright and the State Capitol."
"In my estimation, they 're great caretakers of the house, " said
Draeger. "They 've instituted a culture of care within the fraternity
for that house."
The photo gallery attached to the article is testament to Mr. Draeger's words. We applaud the stewardship of the Sigma Phi fraternity and hope their culture of preservation continues at the Bradley House for some time to come.
