Dexterity Press is excited to announce the beginning of a workshop series which will be held in their new studio space at 1049 N. Marshfield St. in Chicago, Illinois. Students are welcome to bring their own materials for projects once the basic structure is discussed. Dexterity Press will also provide basic tools needed for the workshops, however if students wish to bring their own tools a list will be emailed to all workshop participants.
Dexterity Press is a letterpress print shop located in the Wicker Park neighborhood. They offer a range of letterpress printing services from commercial to limited edition artists books, bookbinding, custom design work and design consultation.

OCTOBER/NOVEMBER -
Introduction to Bookbinding
Thursdays 7-9pm October 4th - November 1st
5 sessions / $85.00
Level: No binding experience needed
This class will cover the basics of bookbinding. Paper qualities, adhesives and a variety of structures that can be useful and elegant on their own or combined to create unique and interesting keepsakes or gifts.
Scrapbooks & Keppsakes
Sunday afternoons 1-3pm October 7th - November 4th
5 sessions / $85.00
Level: Some previous binding experience useful
In this workshop we will make two scrapbooks. One using a post binding and the other a piano hinge. There will be a small amount of simple sewing in this class. Otherwise its folding cutting and double stick taping.
Jacob's Ladder workshop
Sunday November 18th 1-4pm

Do you remember the mystery of these toys when you were young? Well now you can learn the secret and create your own personalized Jacob's Ladder. This is a challenging class but can be fun for an older child and parent working together. One child (over 12) may attend the workshop for free working with an enrolled adult.
NOVEMBER/DECEMBER
Personalized photo album with letterpress cover
Sundays 11am - 1pm December 2nd - December 16th
3 sessions / $60.00
Level: All levels welcome
Students will learn to make a simple photo album in this class. They will also learn how to select and format a small graphic to be made into a letterpress plate and assist with printing their graphic on the cover of the photo album. Additional fees will apply for students who elect to create their own letter press plate.
All About the Accordion
Thursdays 7-9pm November 29th - December 20th
4 sessions / $70.00
Level: Some previous binding experience useful
In this class we will make books whose structure is based on the accordion fold. The carousel book combines two accordion folds to create a sibling of the pop up book and the flag book which has too many possibilities to describe here.
