Join the members of Chicago Bauhaus & Beyond on Nov. 18th for a day of architecture, art and conversation. First there will be a tour of a house designed by Paul Schweikher (see photo below) circa 1953 for Dr. Alfred Schiller, subsequently owned by the Kaberon family for many years, with an addition by Keck & Keck circa 1963. Talk with the owner about his sensitive renovation over the past 3 1/2 years, and learn the process followed for National Register nomination and the preservation efforts to save this unique modernist home. This home is currently for sale, and is located in Glen Ellyn with the tour running from 1pm-2pm.
Then join the group for a tour and reception at the modernist home and studio of artist Samuel Himmelfarb. He designed the home for his family, circa 1937-1938. Enjoy the art and architecture while visiting with this family of accomplished artists, at their home in Winfield from 2pm - 3:30pm.Admission/donation is $10 per person, payable at the door. Open to members in good standing, and one guest each. If you're not currently a member, you can sign-up here. RSVP back to this email address with the names of people attending. No RSVP’s after Nov. 11th.
