"Old School is New School" is a favorite saying among the Mod Squad members. This adage was echoed in a recent Cincinnati Post article that discussed the apparently chic-trend towards having custom, handcrafted art glass windows made for homes.

As discussed in the article, a larger number of architects and designers say:
...their clients increasingly ask for handmade
stained-glass windows that are designed, built and installed almost
exactly the way it was done 900 years ago.
The windows look nothing like the brilliant, old church
windows usually associated with the words "stained glass." Nor do they
resemble the craftsy, amateur oddities that had a hippie heyday in the
'60s and '70s, causing the entire genre to lose favor with much of the
public for 20 years.
Architects and designers say most windows they commission for new homes are predominantly clear, to allow in undiluted light. Or they can be clear, mixed with any of dozens of textured glasses that are used to blur visibility and create privacy where needed, eliminating the need for shutters or draperies.
One of the glass artists mentioned in the story is Arthur Stern. He's an expert on Frank Lloyd Wright and has participated in the restoration and reproduction of Wright designed art glass windows for several high profile projects, including the Storer House, the Darwin Martin House and the Boyton House.
Check out the story and Mr. Stern's website for more info. Who knows, you may find you have a "New School" window that could use a little of that "Old School" art glass charm.

The art glass window is beautiful. Custom made handcrafted windows would be a good option as we can have it done according to our preferences. Thanks for an interesting blog regarding stained glass windows.
