Dwell.com has an article titled Lucky's Break, that is super cool. It is about a family in Los Angeles who turned a tired old house into a very special place....with only $55,000! The photos show a great mix of Ikea furniture and fixtures with design icons like Eames Plywood Lounge Chairs and George Nelson lighting. The home seems to intuitively follow many of the 10 PrairieMod Principles.

Thanks for posting this link -- I had given up on Dwell a few years back, since they mostly write about houses for millionaires.
I've been doing my own similar project for the past 9 years. Our place, a 1952 passive solar house near Chicago, was about ready to be demolished when we bought it. We've used some salvaged materials, including the bath fixtures and a set of 1950 kitchen cabinets which I still need to strip, refinish & install. Our renovation is in the home stretch. Cost has been pretty close to what was spend on this "Lucky Break" project. Here are some photos:
