See the extremely large house pictured above? According to a recent article from the online Des Moines Register, the owners were going for a "Prairie-Contemporary" look when designing it with their architect. Well, if "Prairie-Contemporary" means "McMansion with some broad eaves," then mission accomplished.
The principles of the Prairie School of architecture can and should be readily integrated in our modern world--this is what PrairieMod is all about. Putting some hipped roofs, 114 windows and a stone fireplace in a home the size of a warehouse may make it Contemporary, but it's far from reflecting the ideals of the Prairie School.
