50 years ago, millions of visitors got to see what Disney thought the house of tomorrow would look like. Now the company is looking to bring back that idea with a brand new take on the "House of the Future."
According to a recent MSNBC.com article, the original "House of the Future was:
"a pod-shaped, all-plastic dwelling that quickly seemed quaint closed its doors a decade later. Now Disney is set to open a new abode in Tomorrowland — this time in partnership with 21st century technology giants.
The 5,000-square-foot home scheduled to open in May will look like a normal suburban home outside, but inside it will feature hardware, software and touch-screen systems that could simplify everyday living."
The article goes on to describe some of the technological wonders that will comprise the house attraction, from touch pad screens to mirrors that help coordinate your outfits. Seems that the houses of the future will still be rather large--at 5,000 square feet I wonder if McDonald's will be sponsoring this McMansion of the Tomorrow. I guess we'll see.
