A Sampling Of Arte Moderne
One of my favorite shops in the western suburbs of Chicago can be found in downtown Glen Ellyn. It's called Arte Moderne and if you're looking for a great selection of antiques from the various movements in Modernism, then this is the place to go. Photos and descriptions of current items that shop owners, Kim and Willem, have in their gallery can be found after the jump...
Arte Moderne's Art Deco collection in a rare 1949 Thaden-Jordan early bent-plywood china cabinet.
Here's a few ceramic pieces with interesting glaze treatments and designs
A blend of some great American brands (Haeger and Frankoma) a wonderful mid-century German dish, and a 60's Danish glazed terracotta wall plaque.
How much more organic can it get! This grouping has multi-appeal to collectors and lovers of many styles or objects. Of course, there is a great Dutch Modern piece in this group (Willem is Dutch and knows how to find the best in authentic European Modernism!)
This is just a small sampling of the great Modernism finds Arte Moderne has to offer. Follow the link to get directions to their gallery and check it out for yourself.
