Taliesin Prefab Studio Update 3

Dsc_0008

Taliesin students, staff, and faculty off load steel

Last week saw the delivery and welding of the steel banding (I beams) on which the rest of the structure will be supported. This week I look forward to sharing the Structurally Insulated Panel (SIPS) installation with the PrairieMod readership. Click the "continue reading" link below to see photos of the steel work as well as a video treat.

Images from left to right show the progression from layout to final painting. The smaller perpendicular steel platform is for the breezeway that separates the living area (at bottom) from the sleeping area (at top).

This project relies heavily on student labor in keeping with the "can do spirit" of Taliesin. I thought it would be interesting to see a video from the early days of Taliesin, in Wisconsin; side by side with a glimpse into the labor that has gone into the prototype.
