The PrairieMod Squad has taken a little road trip this week up north to visit the fair city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. We'll be posting on several of the interesting sites we're seeing here, starting with the ultimate in amusing condominium renovations...Meet the Bauhaus Flats.
We were on our way to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, when we drove past a building that made us think we were suddenly in Germany. So we pulled over and snapped a a photo to share with our readers.
So what is the Bauhaus doing in the Twin Cities? From my perspective it looks like the newest gimmick in condo sales. As stated on their website:
The original structure was constructed in 1952 using brick, concrete and steel - the unique building was an ideal specimen to convert to affordable, Modernist stylish condos.
The Bauhaus Lofts building has undergone extensive renovations. On the exterior, new decks have been added and landscaping has been implemented around the entire community. The interior renovation is an exercise in Modernism.
Well, I guess in this current housing market, builders have to try and think...outside the box? Anyway, if you have been dying to "Go Gropius", then check out the Flats.
