The PrairieMod Squad thought Michelle Kaufmann's new Smart Home was so nice, we just had to see it twice! Actually, our second tour of the Smart Home exhibit was in conjunction with a fabulous party thrown in honor of the 75th anniversary of Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry. Here's a special peek at the event and some of the cool stuff we saw...
Aside from the fact that it's really cool to be in such a wonderful setting after hours, I really appreciated being one of the first visitors to view the finished vision of Michelle's Smart Home. We had gotten a sneak peek yesterday when we sat down with Michelle for a PrairieMod Podcast interview. However, with all the media activity, finishing touches being applied and the fact it was raining cats and dogs outside—it was hard to completely experience the home. So the party was a perfect chance to take another look.
All I can say is that the home is even more fascinating after a second viewing. It's filled with so many intelligently designed products and integrated elements that I came away with tons of ideas for making the the little red house a little greener.
After our tour, we made our way up to the museum's main hall and enjoyed a little food, some drinks and another sneak-peek at a new exhibit. The Glass Experience explores a material in our daily lives that we often take for granted. On display are many of the incredible ways glass has helped shape human lives and culture throughout the years--everything from bottles to Dale Chihuly's creations. Of course, another master of working with glass was represented as well
A perfect way to end the evening! We had a wonderful time celebrating the museum's milestone. I highly suggest at least one visit (if not two or more) to see the Smart Home, the Glass Experience and all the rest of the fantastic exhibits that make up Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry.
