It was a beautiful weekend in Chicago and the perfect opportunity to work outside on the Little Red House. What did we get accomplished? A little flower-power and paint mix-up fix-up.
Last week, I shared some of the photos of the recent sliding door and window addition to our little Mid-Century modern abode. I also had to contend with a color mishap concerning the paint on the new siding. You can see the unfortunate results below:
Well, I learned my lesson and had an existing paint chip color analyzed and the touch-up matched much better. It'll do until we can figure out our long term siding solution.
The next task to take care of was adding a little extra color to the front of our home. The front deck has a privacy wall with built-in flower boxes. We went to a local nursery and bought some locally grown annuals with some colors that harmonize well with the red of the house. It's amazing how a little natural color and texture can make all the difference in the world:
Before (new color and plants)
After (near and far)
In addition to "Thinking Natural", we also cleaned out the gutters and did a little more yard clean-up. All-in-all, a very productive weekend. Little steps like this day-by-day, weekend after weekend add up to big changes. Until next time!
