I'm eagerly anticipating the release of Frank Lloyd Wright: The Buildings by Alan Hess and Alan Weintraub. Here's a sneak peek at what can be expected...
Frank Lloyd Wright: The Buildings
Photographs by Alan Weintraub
Text by Alan Hess. With contributions by Kathryn Smith and David G. De Long
Hardcover 11” X 11” / 300 pages / 300 color & 30 b/w illustrations
US $ 75.00 • Release date: November 2008
As stated in Rizzoli's press release:
"Accompanying Rizzoli’s best-selling Frank Lloyd Wright: The Houses, this publication features Wright’s major projects and programs, including such masterpieces as the Guggenheim Museum, Marin County Civic Center, Unity Temple, Johnson Wax, Taliesin, and Taliesin West, to name only a few.
Also included in this publication are archival images of the great demolished buildings, such as the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, as well as inspiring visions of the great unbuilt work drawn by Wright, including The Baghdad Opera House and The Mile High “Illinois” among others. Extensive, all new color photography shows the buildings to an extent rarely seen (including such little-known gems as Beth Shalom Synagogue, Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, and Lindholm Gas Station).
Frank Lloyd Wright: The Buildings invites a reevaluation of Wright’s work and is a must-have for anyone interested in this very important American architect."

I'm looking forward to reviewing the book once my advance copy comes. I'll be sure to list all the buildings included and give a summation of each of the author's essays. Stay tuned!

Since they're focusing on the public buildings, they can't repeat the gross repetition that characterized their previous efforts. That's good news.
