I was recently contacted by PrairieMod reader Mike Thorin of Fond du Lac, WI. He and his wife Michelle are about to embark on the American dream, but not just any McMansion dream mind you, the couple has decided to build a Wright inspired Usonian home. Continue reading after the jump...

Mike says: "It seems that today's middle income family never think twice to buy a $40k vehicle, but dismiss the thought to pay even less to create a work of art that will become their biggest investment in their lifetime." He continues: "it's a no-brainer to us where to put our hard earned money."
The Thorin's have hired Genesis Architecture's Ken Dahlin to design the home where Mike says: "With this house, my wife and are committed to keep alive the principles of organic and Usonian architecture into the 21st century."
Check back to PrairieMod for updates and progress on this unique project.

Ken Dahlin has done some very good award winning work over the past few years and anybody considering building a new home in the prairie or usonian vein would be well advised to contact him.

I never realized it, but I think the Donath Residence by Genesis Architecture is the house in Lombard, IL I used to drool over when I lived in that town. It is absolutely beautiful from the outside (and the interior photos shown on the GA site look fantastic, too!)

I'm tentatively thinking about diving into an Usonian project as well. I would like to see more interior shots of their work. What about an article about modern day Usonian/Prairie style architects that have the "Wright" touch?

My website is an accurate record of building a Usonian house in 2004. www.usonianredhouse.com
