Mark Hertzberg sent a link to an interesting New York Times article about the efforts in the United Arab Emerites to use "architecture and art to reshape their national identities virtually overnight, and in the process to redeem the tarnished image of Arabs abroad while showing the way toward a modern society within the boundaries of Islam." It's being done through the construction of new extentions of famous museums by equally famous contemporary "starchitects". Read more about it here.
