Fresh off his recent trip to Mason City, IA for the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy Conference, architect and author Ranolph C. Henning sent info on a new book about the restoration of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Park Inn Hotel that he thought PrairieMod readers would want to know about. More after the jump...
"You might want to mention on PrairieMod that a new book titled Wright Again has been published and is now available (see attached scan of the cover – hardbound with dust jacket). It presents the restoration of Frank Lloyd Wright’s 1909 City National Bank & Park Inn Hotel built project in Mason City (and, regarding the restoration, a job well done if I might say!). The book (77 pages), authored by Pat Schultz, Dana Thomas and Scott Borcherding, retails for $40 and has lots of color photos. I believe the book can be ordered from Wright On the Park, Inc. and/or from the Architectural Interpretive Center in Mason City."
Thanks Randy! Make sure to get your copy of Wright Again and then plan your visit to see the beautiful hotel for yourself.

In May we stayed overnight in the Park Inn and it was delightful. Mason City is a treat to visit for architrekkers like us. The local people we met are rightfully proud of the results of the hard work by their community to restore not only the Park Inn but other interesting buildings, such as the Stockman House. Go!

We stayed one evening just after the hotel had opened (I think we were probably the first guests to have stayed in our room). The experience was really great! The restoration was beautiful, and the staff was both friendly and accommodating. This small city has so many architectural gems - make certain to spend a little time searching them out.
