After posting about the empty Max Hoffman Showroom, I received word from Janet Halstead, Executive Director of the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy, about what is being done to ensure that the space is being monitored. More after the jump...
"The Conservancy has been following this situation for several months. In August we submitted to the Landmarks Preservation Commission of the City of New York a letter and a formal “request for evaluation” of the Hoffman Auto Showroom. This is the first step in any potential city protection of the site. The local DOCOMOMO group submitted a support letter for this evaluation as well. We received an acknowledgment of our request from the Commission but despite a couple of follow-up inquiries nothing further. We are continuing to pursue it."
I'm heartened to hear that the FLWBC is not only aware of the current situation, but actively making sure a solution is found that protects this Wright work. Please help support the FLWBC in their mission to protect Wright's works here.

Wonder if Columbia and the Museum of Modern Art could use the space given the recent donation by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation that moved the archives from Arizona to Manhattan?
