Larry Zgoda sent word and some images about two buildings at the Brookdale Administrative Offices of the McHenry County Conservation District he discovered were done using serpentine masonry. More after the jump...
They show the meandering brickwork with oozing mortar. A portion of the masonry is done with field stones. The use of such "folk masonry" by an architect is relatively uncommon, though it brings to mind the work of Greene & Greene in California. If you'd like to find out more about the buildings and talk to Larry directly, contact info is here.

I was on the construction crew, back in the 80s, for a single family house that had brickwork like this. No architect was involved. Local codes allowed the contractor to draw his own plans (which he told me to do). The owner just requested that type of brick facade. Next time I am in Illinois I will try to remember to go get a picture.
