Although new to me, the original story we posted about of the train overpasses being proposed uncomfortably close to the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Dana-Thomas House in Springfield, IL was written in 2009. However, concerns still exist with respect to the historic site and railroad expansion. A Footnote About Wright & UNESCO
Janet Halstead, Executive Director of the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy provided a footnote to yesterday’s posting about Getting Onboard the World Heritage Listing:
"If our nomination is ultimately successful, the Wright buildings would be the first modern cultural site in the US included in the World Heritage List. There are other World Heritage modern architectural sites consisting of multiple buildings designed by the same architect. Seven buildings by Antonio Gaudi are listed; the Gaudi work is all in the Barcelona (Spain) area whereas the Wright buildings are dispersed geographically across one country. Also on UNESCO’s World Heritage List are the Victor Horta townhouses in Brussels (Belgium) and the Brasilia (Brazil) buildings designed by Oscar Niemeyer. There may be other multi-building same-architect World Heritage listings among the almost 900 cultural and natural heritage sites around the world, but not many and certainly it would be a first for the US."

The Real Cole House
Recently, we posted on a house for sale in Park Ridge, IL that the listing stated was designed by Bruce Goff. Turns out, it's not. PrairieMod reader Anthony T. was kind enough to send images of what the original 1939 Bruce Goff-designed Frank Cole house looked like before it was apparently replaced with the home that is now for sale. Knock-Goff
Apparrently, the modern home we posted about as being for sale in Park Ridge, IL and being advertised as a Bruce Goff house, is not the original home built on that lot. PrairieMod reader, Anthony T. left this comment:
That is NOT the Goff house! I saw the Goff house on that lot a few years prior to it's demolition in the late 80's / early 90's. Although much altered, a lot of original elemements remained at that time. When i went back a few years later, this had replaced it. Modern but NOT Goff! You should post a correction along with a photo of the original house, which was one of Goff's best).
Definitely a confusing set of circumstances. Once we locate (or a kind reader sends us) an actual image of what the 1939 Frank Cole residence looked like and hopefully more of this story, we'll be sure to post it for everyone and clear this up.

A few weeks ago we posted that the Wisconsin Public Television program "In Wisconsin" would feature a segment on the restoration of Frank Lloyd Wright's American System-Built Homes, Model B1. That post had the wrong date for broadcast. The program will air in Madison on Wisconsin Public Television on Thursday, February 4th at 7:00 pm CST, with an encore presentation on Sunday, February 7th at 4:00 pm CST. Milwaukee Public Television, Channel 10, will also air the In Wisconsin program on Sunday, February 7th at 11:30 am CST.
