Usonia Meets Jazz

The Wall Street Journal recently featured an article on Jazz legend, Rudy Van Gelder. Little known to many, perhaps, is that the famed Van Gelder Recording Studio in Englewood Cliffs, NJ was designed by Usonian architect, David Henken. It's Sydney Meets Two Franks

Here's a link to an article on the New York Times website about the striking new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, designed by the architect Moshe Safdie. The building's form evokes comparisons to the Sydney Opera House, Frank Lloyd Wright's Guggenheim and the stainless steel use of Frank Gehry. Frank Lloyd Wright's Marin County Civic Center makes its Hip Hop debut in Dr. Dre's comeback video, "I Need a Doctor," also featuring his protégé, Eminem, and singer Skylar Grey.
