It was a great day on the Wright & Like tours today and our podcast from the event will be posted tomorrow, so stay tuned.
BTW, we safely made it back to Chicago through the treacherous afternoon/evening thunderstorms that hit Southeast Wisconsin! I don't recall seeing so much rain before in my lifetime. It was seriously crazy. At one point we wished we had one of these duck vehicles.

Harvard University professor, noted Frank Lloyd Wright scholar and author Neil Levine recently discussed Wright's important architectural contributions to the Buffalo, NY area at the Buffalo Niagara Convention and Visitors Bureau. For those of you who don't know, Buffalo is the home to many acclaimed Wright achievements including the Darwin Martin House Complex and Graycliff Estate.

This month, we take you to the Paul Schweikher Home & Studio in Schaumburg, Illinois. Schweikher was an accomplished Organic Architect who practiced in the Chicagoland area between the 1930's-1950's.
Our interview is with Jeff Whyte, the building architect who tells us the story about this marvelous place, the people it has inspired and why he's setup his own architectural studio on the property.
Unfortunately, we weren't able to get any shots of the home and studio...but the Chicago Bauhaus & Beyond website has some good pics here.

Wow, today was simply spectacular and packed full of so much intriguing information! As you can see from the photo above, Taliesin West is an inspirational place to be and it's also a wonderful location to participate in such thought-provoking discussions about design and architecture.
I feel that this podcast recap doesn't do today's events much justice because of the depth of knowledge that was imparted...but it at least captures the essence of what went on.

Here it is...our new monthly feature, Living PrairieMod! Each month we will glean the experiences of folks who live and/or work in structures that fit the definition of the PrairieMod Lifestyle. These specifically identified structures have and will be chosen because they are marvelous examples of beautiful environments and we'll explore some of the things that make them so.
This month we've interviewed budding Generation Y architect Trevor Pan, a recent graduate of The Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture. Trevor talks with us about Frank Lloyd Wright's design principles, the architectural profession and his desert shelter, 3 Desert Way.
