Calling All Iannelli Fans: I Need Your Help!

Exciting news for anyone who loves progressive art and design!

I'm currently working on the design of a new book project: the first comprehensive monograph on Alfonso Iannelli and the Iannelli Studios that is slated to be published later this year.

To make the book a success (both for content and visually) I'm reaching out to PrairieMod readers to see if anyone has Iannelli-related photos, drawings, artwork, letters, etc. that they'd be willing to share hi-res images of for possible inclusion in the book.

If you have such items, please contact me at eric@prairiemod.com and I'll be happy to discuss the project and your Iannelli items with you in more detail.

Looking For Iannelli Posters

Speaking of Iannelli, I want to put a call out to PriarieMod readers to see if there might be someone with an extra copy of two particular Iannelli-deisgned reproduction Orpheum posters that I need to complete a full set for the PrairieMod archive.

The Iannelli's created the original posters for the Orpheum Theater's Vaudeville acts from 1910-1915. decades later, six of the posters were reproduced via silkscreen on heavy white paper by the Chicago School of Architecture Foundation (read more about the history of these fascinating posters at the ArchiTech Gallery website).

Over the years, the posters have become somewhat scarce, but a PrairieMod reader generously arranged for me to secure four of the six posters for our archive.

Now I'm hoping other PrairieMod readers might have duplicates of the last two needed to complete the set. If anyone has extra copies of "Meehan’s Canines" or "Big City Four" (pictured at left) please contact me at eric@prairiemod.com and we'll work something out. Thanks!

The team at PrairieMod learned yesterday that we were selected to receive one of the 2011 Wright Spirit Awards from the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy! The award will be given at this year's FLWBC conference in Philadelphia, PA which takes place September 21-25, 2011. Hillside Album Campaign Update

PrairieMod readers are generous folks! Since announcing the effort to raise the funds needed to acquire the album of 50 rare photos featuring the Hillside Home School in Spring Green, Wisconsin, about half the money has been raised. But we're not there yet! We still need more donations to put us over the top and secure this important architectural artifact.

In addition to the sense of satisfaction in helping the cause, a special secret limited edition "thank you" gift from PrairieMod will be sent to every pledger (a tantalizing sneak peek is shown at left...)

A Footnote About Wright & UNESCO

Janet Halstead, Executive Director of the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy provided a footnote to yesterday’s posting about Getting Onboard the World Heritage Listing:

"If our nomination is ultimately successful, the Wright buildings would be the first modern cultural site in the US included in the World Heritage List. There are other World Heritage modern architectural sites consisting of multiple buildings designed by the same architect. Seven buildings by Antonio Gaudi are listed; the Gaudi work is all in the Barcelona (Spain) area whereas the Wright buildings are dispersed geographically across one country. Also on UNESCO’s World Heritage List are the Victor Horta townhouses in Brussels (Belgium) and the Brasilia (Brazil) buildings designed by Oscar Niemeyer. There may be other multi-building same-architect World Heritage listings among the almost 900 cultural and natural heritage sites around the world, but not many and certainly it would be a first for the US."

We've recently confirmed our involvement in Wright Plus 2010, hosted by the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust in Oak Park, Illinois on May 15th, 2010.

At 1pm we'll be giving demonstrations at the Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio Museum Store.
