I saw a company that makes retro silkscreen-printed textiles called Red and White Kitchen featured on an episode of Food Network's "Unwrapped" last night. I cruised over to their website and see that they not only make a variety of brightly colored, nostalgic towels, aprons, etc. but they like to "Go Green" as well while making it! Check them out here.

I just read about this great not for profit organization Trash for Teaching on The Scout blog in the L.A. Times. They collect donations of what they affectionately call “dumpster diamonds”. These are discarded materials from various manufacturers such as empty cardboard tubes and scraps of holographic paper. The beauty comes when these materials are put into the hands of children to use as art supplies. They do this through different services such as their Treasure Truck visits, school programs and even birthday parties.

Leif.designpark's children's tone chair is "specially designed to give kids a natural and positive surrounding by utilizing solid timber and environmentally friendly materials for that unmistakable sense of touch.
This site is not in English but has some really great looking chairs, I'd enjoy any of these in adult size.

I would love one of these prints from Bryan Nash Gill on the wall in my apartment. But with a price tag of $4,000 I might have to be satisfied with digital oogling for now. Amazing. The process looks pretty incredible as well:
"Ink is rolled out and a piece of handcrafted washi paper is placed over the print block. Pressing little by little with his fingertips, Bryan imprints the texture of the wood on the surface of the paper. I love the idea that Bryan had to literally touch each tree-growth-ring in order to deposit its mark."
As a side note Ashes and Milk is a great blog. Take the time to check out the various artist they highlight.

Slightly too modern for our place, but an interesting twist if you're convinced that the birds in your neighborhood share the same great taste in modern design as you do! We've got a nice group of yellow finches visiting our garden pretty regularly, and I'm sure they would love this upgrade.
This bird feeder has an incredibly clean design with only 8 parts that slide and lock together, no fasteners or tools required. Great design.

There's a definite trend toward sustainability in recent years, and that includes keeping chickens. (Here in Portland, OR, coops seem to be in every other back yard.) Even Frank Lloyd Wright notes, "It is just as desirable to build a chicken house as it is to build a cathedral." This mod little keeper may not be up to FLW's standards, but it sure is cute!

Cute, urban, sustainable. In an attempt to get away from the toxic vinyl that usually comprise the collectible designer toy figures, Noferin has substituted wood instead to great (and adorable) results. Check out the PecanPals here.

Not only were Teco ceramics and Prairie Style Architecture revolutionary 100 years ago, but Iced Tea was invented around the same time at the 1904 St. Louis World Fair. Okay, it was really only popularized and commercialized then...but that is still revolutionary.
Enjoy a modern twist on an old classic with Tea Forte this month. Check out their June deals here.
BTW, June really is Iced Tea Month and not just the invention of marketing geniuses at Tea Forte! I had to check the validity of that myself.

Thanks to a heads-up here on PrairieMod, I stopped by the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, PA, to see Joyce Aysta's pop-up card of Frank Lloyd Wright's Pasadena "La Miniatura" house (along with a card of the gorgeous Conservatory of Flowers in San Francisco). Here are some photos of this delicate little treasure, a box of which can be purchased on Aysta's web site.

I love this table from CB2. It's funny in the description they talk about how the floating cantilever feel of the table reminds CB2 of Wright's Fallingwater.
